Sunla started with a simple question: why is it so hard to buy a sunrise alarm clock that is actually bright?
The problem
We went through the category. The numbers did not add up.
Sunrise alarm clocks run from about $35 to $200, and almost none of them publish a brightness figure at all. The few that do take the reading a few centimetres from the lamp — not from where your head actually is, so there is nothing you can actually compare.
Light falls off sharply over that distance. That is how a clock can claim a big number and still leave you asleep.
So Sunla is built around 18 inches — real bedside distance. The only distance worth designing for is the one where your head actually is.
The answer
So we built the opposite.

Warm light builds slowly across the room before any sound plays, so you are already surfacing by the time the alarm time arrives.
A sound machine for the other end of the night
The wind-down and the sound machine run independently of the alarm, so the same clock handles falling asleep as well as waking up.
A display that goes genuinely dark
Fully off at night — not a dim glow you learn to live with. Leave it at low brightness instead if you would rather see the time.
A Bluetooth speaker, not just an alarm
Your alarm setting is preserved. No blinking display at 3am, no missed morning because the grid flickered.
What we refuse to add
The category kept adding things nobody asked for.
